I want to generate lines based on xy values. For that purpose I have a dbf table with x and y start points and x and y endpoints.

It seems to me that the XY to line tool in ArcMap 10.5.1 jumps over the records that have exactly same coordinates with some earlier record, nor are the "duplicated" records included in the output table. I wonder if it is possible to include all records in he output table (for distance calculation purposes) with this tool?

Welcome to GIS SE. As a new user, please take the Tour, which explains how our "Focused question/Best answer" model operates. I would suggest you try to isolate the dBase records which are causing the issue, and subset them to the point where they would fit in the question, and then if they still exhibit the problem, add them to the question, along with the exact Geoprocessing Result log. This would also be something to take to Tech Support, but we both will need more details than are provided here.

  • Having a second look, it would seem to me that this problem occurs when subsequent records have same coordinates. This does not stop the process, but all records are not included in the final line shapefile. This is a problem because I am interested in analysing lengths of the shapefile for distance calculation purposes. Is there anyway to include all records in the result file?

I can't imagine how that would matter. But either way, a reproducible case has to be presented in the body of the question, or it's likely to be closed.
