When I use this tool to convert a KML into ArcMap 10.6.1, the menus ask for a GeoDB, then a layer name. At least that is my understanding. I cannot for the life of me import a KML into an existing GeoDB, it always creates a new GeoDB with a single layer. So for example I have 3 different KML files and would like them to be in a single GeoDB. I always end up with 3 separate GeoDB files each with a single layer that I then need to combine. I can do that, but it seems counter productive.

Is this expected behavior for this tool?

  • This is expected behavior from kml to layer tool. Although counterproductive, it is possible to automate this process with a model or arcpy, but that's a different question..
